Favourite Skincare Products

Afternoon everyone, just done a round of washing and and thought I’d do a quick post…. Don’t ask me why I felt the need to disclose that I’ve just done a round of washing, I don’t know. Pride? Am I……….adulting?

Anyway, just thought I’d start this before I go to the gym and I’ll finish this once I’m back because I haven’t taken any photos of the stuff I use….which I realised is like 3 products…*p…..Someone tell me why I’m doing this post, please.

Whatever, as Anne Robinson says, I’ve started so I’ll finish.

This is my skin…no, it’s not perfect but it’s mine so that’s all that matters…and please excuse the 4o’clock shadow, haven’t threaded le ‘stache yet..or my eyebrows…this is going well so far, two thumbs up.

  1. Exfoliating gloves. £1 – Primark.

People say you shouldn’t exfoliate your face often and they’re probably right…but I clearly don’t listen, I use this every time I shower.

2. Original Source Shower Gel. £1 (on offer) – Superdrug

(Apologies for the poor photo. Forgot to take a pic of this until now…had to use flash….whilst watching The Flash…..FLASHCEPTION!!)

To be completely honest I use whatever I can get my hands on. Again, why am I doing this post?

3. Johnson’s Baby- Intense Moisture Cream. £2 – Superdrug

Ok, this one is actually really useful for you to know about. Since I started using this my skin has been waaaay softer than it normally is….soft as a baby’s behind in fact….which makes sense because this is probably what the cream is for

4. Carmex. £2.69- Superdrug

I mainly use this for my lips but sometimes the sides of my nose get really dry, especially if it’s super cold or windy so I just stick a bit of this on each side and it works a treat. Cherry or strawberry are my go to flavours.

How Ugly Are You?

Good evening all…Incase you did not know (which you probably didn’t), I started blogging a while back but took a break because….well life. I was going through my posts on my old blog and came across this…I still think it’s so relevant so I’m going to recycle that post here…


Ok this is going to be brief because what I’m about to put below is all I want you take out of this post…no “laadeedaa this is what I bought today/ this is what I wore” …No. Please girls/boys/men/women/EVERYONE remember this always ❤




– Don’t diminish your worth based on what you think society wants/likes
– Stop focussing on your “flaws”
– Stop comparing yourself to other people
– Love yourself
– Respect yourself
– Know yourself; don’t try and be who you think everyone wants you to be, you are the way you are for a reason. Embrace it.

Darling, you are enough, and don’t let anyone tell you or make you feel otherwise.

My Top 7 Tips On Losing Weight: Food Edition 

I had a really mediocre workout today.

I worked up a sweat but I know I didn’t push myself as much as I usually do, and that’s because I’m bored. My gym is boring me, and so are my routines so I didn’t want to include that in this post till I find a way to spruce things up. So instead, I’ll just talk about food and weightloss as they weren’t lying when they said weight loss is 80% food and 20% exercise.

1. Meal Prep. There’s a reason why so many fitness and nutrition ‘gurus’ say this. It’s because it’s true. Failure to prepare is preparing to eat the entire contents of the fridge. Meal prep is important for a whole bunch of reasons but these 2 are big ones for me:

– You’re more likely to eat less healthy if you’re tired. Mate, if I’ve come home from a long day at work after a heavy gym session in the morning the last thing I want to do is cook. Nope. Not today. So, what will I do? I’d either pick up anything I see in the fridge/freezer, good or bad, or I’d get a takeaway. Now don’t get me wrong, you can have a takeaway every now and again but it can start to become a habit, which won’t aid with your weight loss.

– It makes you more accountable for what you put into your mouth: If you’re a habitual ‘I’ll just pick up a quick snack from the supermarket and go’ sort of person then you’re not really engaging in what you’re eating. And it’s easier to lose track of what you’ve consumed during the day if you’re just grabbing and eating. By mealprepping you can see and plan what you will eat during the day making it less likely for you to waver, and helping you plan out what your body will need. It’s also great for portion control

2. Don’t have a cheat day, have a cheat meal. I only came to this realisation recently after talking to my friend about all the crap I ate over the weekend and I realised that because I gave myself the entire day to stuff my face with whatever I want, I’m literally taking in all the calories that I had been working so hard to be in deficit of (does that even make sense?) during the week. So basically all my hard work went down the pan. And also, I tend graze or binge a lot so by me having free reign all day, I’m going to take full advantage of that. Not only that but I’m not appreciating what I’m eating as much because I’m eating the world. So plan a nice cheat meal, sit down, and enjoy it. AAAAANNNDD, if you want to take this  step further, make a healthy cheat meal! I know, I know, please, stay with me here, there are so many healthy versions of your favourite meals that you can try, I’m going to start posting more recipes on this blog but look up “healthy pizza”, “vegan brownies”, “dairy free ice cream” (I’m not vegan by the way, these have just been really good recipes that I’ve come across). That being said, if Dominoes is calling your name come cheat day, answer it, it would be rude not to.

3. If you’re hungry, try and do something instead. This is because a lot of the time ‘hunger’ can actually be boredom, well that’s definitely applicable to me. So busy yourself somehow and see how you feel in 15 minutes or so. If you’re still hungry then go grab a healthy snack.

4. Drink lots of water. Yep, you’ve heard this one before blablabla. You’ve heard it a lot because it’s actually important. Here are 5 benefits to drinking water:

  • Water flushes out toxins and also reduces bloating
  • Maintains regularity of bowel movements
  • Fills you up so you are more likely to eat less (which is why you are advised to drink a glass of water before a meal)
  • Promotes healthy skin
  • Fuels muscles- you lose water whilst exercising through sweat, so refuelling your water supply also refuels your muscles which helps them get stronger

5. Increase proteins, fruits and veg, decrease carbohydrates. Note, I didn’t say remove carbs, your body still requires carbohydrates so don’t eradicate them completely…Side note: I’ve got 4 Weddings playing in the background and they keep saying cake, please help me!

6. Avoid fad diets. Fad diets may be good for a quick fix- maybe you need to fit into an outfit for an event, but the results are in most cases just temporary and will probably just lead to a cycle of yoyo dieting. Try not to just focus on losing weight but implementing healthy and realistic eating habits.

7. Be wary of celebrity endorsed diets/products. I don’t care that you saw Beyonce’ lose weight drinking cayenne pepper and lemon or whatever it was, Beyonce’ probably has a whole team of nutritionists and trainers behind her who helped her with that weight loss.  “Ahhh but Cheryl did the baby food diet and lost a bunch of wei….” BUT ARE YOU CHERYL THOUGH?? Everybody’s bodies are different, they look different and they work different so what may work for your favourite celebrities, may not work for you. I also think you should avoid comparing yourselves to them also, you’re allowed to see what the media allows you to see, you don’t know what they have gone through, undergone (surgically), or do to get that body. You are you, and that’s good enough, so stop trying to be them and concentrate on being the best version of yourself you can be.

Attempted Recipe: Sweet Potato Crisps (Chips)

I was browsing food videos on le Youtube and I came across this little gem, which is great because I’ve actually been trying to master the art of making  a veggie crisp. I’ve tried before with the oven but for some reason they came out soggy. So, here we go. It’s crazy complicated guys, there are three whole steps… I know, wtf right?! 

  1. Peel your sweet potato and slice it into thin slices

2. Drizzle a little olive oil and your preferred seasoning (salt, pepper, spices, whatever you want) and lay them out separately on a plate laid with (I used kitchen paper…)IMG_6445.JPGIMG_6446

3.Put them in the microwave for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they look ready

*SIDENOTE*Be careful not to keep them in for too long, or on too high a heat otherwise they will burn. 

BONUS STEP: Take them out and shove them in your mouth. You’re welcome

I was going to take a nice photo of them in a bowl but I pretty much ate most of them so here’s what’s left

You can do this with kale, normal potato, plantain, carrot, and a whole bunch of other veggies, just make sure they are as ry as possible before you start the process. 

P.s. They’re gone, I was literally making this as I was typing and now they’ve gone, I ate them all….so maybe make this in small batches and use it as a cinema snack, or random snack, because if you have no self control like me, this won’t end well. 




Living Life In Reverse

When I started this blog I didn’t want to saturate it with long posts about life, I have my other blog for that. This was supposed to be about me trying to openly document my journey of attempting to take more pride in my appearance, brush my hair every now and again, experiment more with fashion and travel, and make fun recipes. Yet somehow, somehow I’m always compelled to write about the slightly less exciting aspects of life, it is what it is I guess.


I quit my job yesterday.

Well I didn’t literally quit yesterday, but I worked my last shift there. Why did I quit? I’ll try and explain this in the most simple way because as I’ve previously mentioned, waffling is a skill of mine.

I quit because I want to be a child again.

Sounds weird but that’s the explanation that resinates most within me.

I want to live my life in reverse.

Let me elaborate. BTW If this post seems kind of choppy it’s probably because I keep pausing to eat my pasta and then pickup my train of thought again, apologies, I’m hungry.

So, I’ve been working since I was 16, for many years, I won’t divulge how many but let’s just say it’s been a long time. I’ve travelled a bit, gone to a handful of festivals, and made some beautiful memories. Yet I still feel unaccomplished. By this I’m not referring to my career either, which is still a work in progress, I mean unaccomplished in life. In my experiences, in collecting beautiful and varied memories from the different places I’ve travelled, things I’ve done, and people I’ve met along the way. Please do not get me wrong, I am so grateful to be alive today because not everyone woke up this morning, this is not a woe is me post, this is me openly expressing my solution to the void I have been feeling because if something is not satisfying you and you have the power to change it, then do just that. In continuation of my last point, I feel like most of my childhood/”teen-hood” was either spent in education, or at work and I started to feel claustrophobic and trapped in the cycle of working to survive, exchanging hours of my life to pay bills, travelling to work to pay to travel to work. That was my life for many years and that pretty much took over my identity. I used to draw, I started to learn Farsi, I rollerbladed and played volleyball, but these pastimes slowly diminished. All my interests took a backseat because I was too tired from work. My blog was sparse and the little content it had was sporadic posts here and there in order to touch base with my passion. And then they stopped. And so did my life. I put my life on hold because I had responsibilities to deal with, I had to be an “adult”, and now I want more.

So I quit my full time job and now I’m going to write, I’m going to sit in the bath for an hour and sing till my fingers look like prunes, I’m going to take long walks through the same places I used to rush through during my commute, I’m going to socialise, I’m going to travel, I’m going to have fun and try to find that spark that almost faded completely. I’m still going to work on the side because if I’m being honest, right now I can’t afford not to; but I wont let it consume me the way I allowed it to all these years.

I’m claiming back my youth and I’m living my life in reverse.

If any of you guys feel trapped, try and find a way to get out, or find a simple pleasure that makes it all bearable for you because life is short my dears and the recent tragedies are a huge reminder of that. Life is short so enjoy it. Don’t exist, live.

Procrastination: The Death Of Dreams

I didn’t even want to write this post.


I just wanted to lie down, watch the end of Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and then fall asleep.

But I didn’t, I didn’t because over the past few days, weeks, whatever, I’ve been reflecting on my life and what I want from it, and why I haven’t achieved what I want and am not where I want to be.

One word. Procrastination.

I’m going to try and keep this post brief and to the point because I tend to waffle a lot, and I’m currently sitting on the toilet (I’m not peeing, I just had to get out of my room for a moment) and I actually want to go to sleep.

So, back to the point. One of the main reasons I’m not where I want to be is due to procrastination. Procrastination sucks. Procrastination will get you nowhere. There’s a difference between actively putting something to one side for a decent reason and procrastinating and I feel like I’ve been doing the latter. Ah man, this is already long….sorry. You know what? We all know procrastination is not the best so instead of me harping on about how bad it is, here are 5 ways to combat procrastination.

  1. Remove Distractions: This point perfectly explains why I’m sitting on the toilet (not 100%, I could have chosen to sit at a desk downstairs but let’s ignore that fact). Put your phone down (unless you need it), close those Tumblr tabs, tune out, and centre yourself in preparation to get stuff done. Distractions become excuses, and excuses aren’t going to get you what you want.

2.  Be around people who inspire you to do better and be better: This isn’t necessarily a “birds of a feather flock together” situation, but who you spend your time and energy with does have an impact on your productivity. Try to be around those who you know will give you a kick up the behind if you’re slacking, or those who want the best for you. Believe me, there are “friends” who don’t want to see you succeed, and they will try whatever they can to make sure they keep you either at their level, or below. Surround yourself with those who feed you with knowledge, self belief, and happiness, you’ll see a difference.

3. Make deadlines: I think this speaks for itself. You can’t always control what happens in your life but you can try and set yourself a clear path by introducing both longterm and short term goals, and giving yourself a timeframe to achieve them. Remember, don’t beat yourself up if you can’t stick to it completely, but at least you know you tried (and you can always extend the deadline if needs be, granted, just make sure you’re still pushing to achieve your goals). If it helps, use visuals, buy a calendar, make a chart, that way, you can physically see your progress which will help encourage you to keep going.

4. Give yourself a break: Don’t push yourself to breaking point (ooooooo punny!). You can only do so much, just remember that. And if you’ve spent the last 6 hours typing up that 12,000 word essay, maybe you should put the laptop down and watch one of your favourite shows, or go eat something you like. Reward yourself. Recharge yourself. That break will give your mind and body the energy to keep going.

5. Create smaller tasks within the task/think positively: Ok, these are two completely different points but I just squished them into one otherwise I could make this list go on forever. Sometimes we procrastinate because the task at hand seems so huge that it cannot possibly be done. Wrong. It can. Just create smaller tasks that work towards the bigger picture. I.E: If you want to create a fashion empire (I don’t know why I chose this, don’t ask me why, I know almost NOTHING about fashion), start small, start sketching, from sketching do whatever it is you’re supposed to do next, I couldn’t tell you. Had to google it because I’m not changing my example. Ahhhhhhh I should have chosen baking a cake!!!! I’m changing my example!!! *COUGH COUGH* For example, if you want to bake a cake, there are steps you’ll need to take, unless you’re Sabrina the teenage witch, you can’t just blink and the cake will appear. Crack the eggs (metaphorically), mix the flour and sugar….do all the other stuff, you get my drift, just take steps.

Lastly, think positive. You are capable, just put your dreams first instead of sitting down doing nothing. Be productive, be proactive, be positive.

March Wishlist

Hello my lovelies! Well, I was going to do a February wishlist but between work, sleep, and eating, that just didn’t happen; to be honest it worked out well because I wanted to do these posts at the beginning of every month. So without further ado…wait, can I just quickly digress; I just had the most disappointing pasta ever, I didn’t even finish it. I had such high hopes. Never knew pasta could disappoint me. It’s up there on the list with cake or bread, or unicorns…can’t imagine any of those letting you down. Gutted.

  1. La Perla- J’aime Perfume, Gold Edition, 100ml – £62.10: John Lewis/ Debenhams


If you are a fan of Si by Giorgio Armani then you would love this. They pretty much smell the same but this one has a slightly stronger scent, it’s like Si on Proplus, absolutely love it. BUT WHY ARE YOU £69???? I mean, I know why but can you not please?

2. Too Faced- “Better Than Sex” Mascara – £23: Debenhams


Yeh yeh yeh, I’m late, this has been out for ages, blablabla, well I’ve resurfaced from the rock I’ve been living under and only just recently started hearing about this mascara and it’s alleged epic-ness so I’m ready to jump on board and try this baby out.

3. Tall Red Spot Midi Tea Dress- £49: Topshop


This dress is so pretty! I’ve been looking for a nice girlie dress that I could wear to a Summer wedding and this would be perfect. I’d probably pair it with chunky heels and a messy bun with minimal jewellery. Just need to find a wedding to go to….anyone?

4. Canon EOS Rebel T6/760D – £579: John Lewis

I’ve been seriously thinking about taking photography a lot more seriously and I feel it’s time to invest in a new camera. I’ve had the Canon EOS 1200D for maybe 2 1/2 years now and as much as I love it, I just need something a bit better. At £579 it’s a decent price given how much I plan on using it so maybe I’ll treat myself….ha, who am I kidding! Early Christmas pressie Mum? Dad?

5. Puma Creepers – £100: Puma

I love creepers and I love Puma so when the two married and became this beautiful specimen, I fell in love. But I’m also a tightwad and didn’t want to spend my dolla dolla at the time (which I regret because apparently they’re sold out). If anyone knows where I can get my hands on these please let me know.

6. A Bali Getaway- £400+

Bali has been on my wishlist for a good 3 years now and this year I’m going to make it happen. I really want to travel as much as possible this year because I’m so used to working day-in-day-out that I’ve almost forgotten how to appreciate life itself which is so important.

7. Unitard – £15: Missguided

I pretty much live in leggings but I always find they start to drop throughout the day which is irritating to say the least. This looks so comfortable and eradicates that issue for me. Plus it’s cheap which makes me happy

8. Yankee Candle- £17-24: Very

My sister got me into candles recently and I’ve become slightly obsessed. These three (Cappuccino Truffle, Passionfruit Martini, and Dragonfruit) sparked my interest, so I’d love to add them to my collection. Also heard there’s a Candyfloss flavour so I need that in my life ASAP!

9. Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in “Damned” – £17: Debenhams


I’ve been building my lipstick collection recently but am yet to find a nice near black shade, maybe I wasn’t looking in the right places, maybe I wasn’t looking enough, maybe I was spending too much time liking photos of pizza on Instagram to find one. I’ve found one now, and I want it.

10. Faux Locs ❤

I think this will be my next hairstyle. I adore dreads, I think they’re beautiful and I’m getting a bit tired of weaves if I’m honest. I mean look at them! LOOK AT THEM!! Ahhh in love with this hair! I might get them before my trip to the US.
